The Botkins Board of Education met in regular session on April 13, 2016. The Board took the following actions:

IDEA mtg. was held IDEA expenditures for FY17 was discussed. We currently receive $105,000 in federal funds. All of this goes to pay salaries/ purchase services for special ed. Students. Parent Cathy Bajwa was in attendance to express her concerns to the need of an additional staff member. She feels needs of special students are not being met.

Heard a presentation by Ashlee Zimpfer and Carrie Topp concerning adding a Learning Trail with stations for primary students.

It was decided to allow the trail to be the Botkins Elementary Education Station (BEES) to put a leaving trail on the sidewalk to the North side of the building.

Approved the minutes of the March 14, 2016 Board of Education regular meeting and the minutes of the minutes of the March 9, March 14, and March 28, 2016 special meetings .

Approved the Treasurer’s report by fund, the Investment report, and cash balance report as presented.

Heard from the following Committees:

o Buildings and Maintenance –

§ Track-$32,000 for bleacher purchase

§ Discussion of building.

§ Parking lights at the Athletic Complex are being installed.

o Park Board –

§ Trees have been replanted and the field has been fertilized.

o Technology –

§ Testing ok.

Adopted a resolution of commendations for the below:

o Grace Homan set a new school record in the Shot Put with a throw of 39’ 9.25”.

o Josh Miller tied the school record in the Shot Put with a throw of 52’7.5”.

o General Livestock Judging Team placed 6th out of 170 teams and qualified them for State Finals.

o Equine Judging Team placed 2nd out of 123 teams and qualified them for State Finals.

Approved the Botkins Local School, grades 7-12, become a member of the OHSAA for the 2016-17 school year.

Adopted the 7-12 handbook for the 2016-17 school year as presented.

Adopted the K-6 handbook for the 2016-17 school year.

Approved the Classified handbook for the 2016-17 school year.

Approved the Faculty handbook for the 2016-17 school year.

Approved the Volunteer handbook for the 2016-17 school year.

Adopted the Wellness Policy for the 2016-17 school year.

Approved the updates to the board policy manual.

Approved the Girls Basketball overnight camp to Wilmington Collage on July 23rd and 24th.

Adopted a resolution for the use of the school grounds for the Carousel.

Approved a contract with Carol Riggle, FY 2016 GAAP Accounting and assistance and for the FY 2016 Modified Cash Basis/OCBOA Reports. Cost would be $730 for GAAP and $1375 for Modified Cash Basis/OCBOA.

Approved a 3-year Sports Medicine Agreement with Wilson Health Sports Medicine.

Received the following updates:

o An anonymous donation or $2000 to be used for the purpose of purchasing equipment for the track.

o Donation of $1407 to Athletic Fund in memory of Dan (Whitney) Schaub.

o Accepted a donation of $800 for the Serr Scholarship fund.

o Accepted the Don and Helen Ambos Memorial schlorarship fund through the Community Foundation.
