The Botkins Board of Education met in regular session on January 8th, 2014. The Board took the following actions:
v The proposed calendar for the 2014-15 school year was reviewed and discussed. A public hearing to set the calendar was held. The calendar will be approved at the February board meeting.
v Approved the minutes of the December 11th, 2013 Board of Education regular meeting.
v Approved the Treasurer’s report by fund, the Investment report and cash balance report as presented.
v Approved the advance return of $17,700 from the RttT-AVID grant fund to the general fund.
v Approved the bus routes as presented.
v Set the cost of Drivers Education at $275 for Botkins students and $300 for non-Botkins students with no increase.
v Hired Luann Powell and Jane Hough as tutors per salary schedule.
v Adopted the RESOLUTION DECLARING IT NECESSARY TO LEVY A RENEWAL TAX AND REQUESTING THE COUNTY AUDITOR TO CERTIFY MATTERS IN CONNECTION WITH A PROPOSED TAX LEVY.
v Set a Special Board Meeting for January 19th at 1:00PM at the building site.
v Joined OSBA for the calendar year 2014 at a rate of $2981.
v Building update –
o We have set January 19th from 2:00-4:00 PM as an opportunity for the community to tour the new facility. We will have a table in the media center for releases to be signed. (No hard hats needed). Tour is for the 1st floor only.
o Window installation is ready to begin. Stage will be poured this week.
o Infrared testing is recommended for the final testing of the roof.
o There will be final roof inspections by CTL & manufacturer.
o Painting is to begin.
o Bid schedule (online bidding) as follows:
§ Playground, landscaping & technology-Bids are advertised January 6th, Pre-bid meeting January 16th, Bid opening January 30th
§ Loose Furnishings-in the process of being finalized to be bid in March
v School calendar will be finalized and adopted at the February BOE meeting.
