The Botkins Board of Education met in regular session on June 10, 2015. The Board took the following actions:

Soccer coach presented info for a Jr. High soccer program. Ryan Gutman presented a statement about additional sports being added to sports program. No decisions were made.

Approved the minutes of the May 10, 2015 regular Board meeting.

Approved the Treasurer’s report by fund, the Investment report, and cash balance report was presented.

Established fund 499-9015 E-textbook Grant and to amend the Certificate of Estimated Resources, make supplemental Appropriations and modify appropriations as presented.

Approved the change orders for the building project. One is for additional parking ($104,310.81) and the other is for additional cameras ($48,625.42)

Heard committee reports:

o Park board – the village has agreed to remove the covenant from the park land deed and we will no longer need to get permission to make changes to the track and track land.

o Technology – Adding cameras and sound system.

Approved Temporary Appropriations for FY16 as listed below:

General Fund $1,200,000

Debt Service $200,000

Enterprise Funds $100,000

Special Revenue $80,000

Capital Projects $1,500,000

Fiduciary Funds $20,000

Moved to set the pay for substitute teachers for the 2015-16 school year at $85 per day.

Moved to set lunch, mild and ala carte prices as indicated for the 2015-16 school year contingent on receiving the waiver from the state. If no waiver, 10 cents increase to lunch prices.

Hired the following personnel for the 2015-16 school year:

o Rebecca Walters Tutor 3 days a week (replacing Sue Carter)

o Aaron Fullenkamp Summer janitor

Hired the following extracurricular positions per salary schedule for the 2015-16 school year:

o Marian Epperly Senior Advisor

o Brad Schmerge Freshman Basketball Coach

Approved the overnight trips as presented:

o Volleyball Camp July 16th – 18th at Maumee Bay

o UCA Cheerleading Camp July 9th – 12th at Miami University

o Boys Soccer Camp July 8th – 10th at Ohio Dominican

Adopted resolutions of commendation as presented:

o Whitney Bornhorst – District Champion in 300m hurdles; 3rd place in 100m hurdles; Regional Champion in 300m hurdles; set a new school record in the 100m hurdles (16.59), 300m hurdles (45.55) and the 400m hurdles (1:08.33)

o Chloe Flora – District Champion in 1600m run; 4th place in the 3200m run at District Competition; Regional Champion in the 1600m run

o Kayla Heuker – 3rd in 400m dash at District

o Cameron Flora – 3rd in 1600m run at District

o Austin Jones – District Runner-Up in 800m run; 4th place in 800m run at Regional

o Josh Miller – District Runner-Up in the Shot Put; 4th place in the Shot Put at Regional

o 4x800m girls relay – Kayla Heuker, Whitney Bornhorst, Hannah Bailey, and Chloe Flora – District Runner-Ups; Regional Champions; Set a new school record with a time of 9:38.75

o 4x400m girls relay – Whitney Bornhorst, Kayla Heuker, Allison Guckes, and Chloe Flora – District Champions; Regional Runner- Ups; Set a new school record with a time of 4:02.58

o 4X200m boys relay – Austin Jones, Aaron Fullenkamp, Austin Fullenkamp and Cameron Flora set a new school record with a time of 1:42.17

Moved to approve payment to the tournament/site manager, athletic trainer, scoreboard operator, ticket taker and announcer at the rates established by OHSAA for a tournament sporting even for the 2015-16 school year.

Moved to approve the following Then and Now purchase orders:

o Lowe’s for blinds for the new school - $5,040

o Feldkamp Enterprises for the greenhouse trench drain and sink work - $5,985

Accepted the following donations to be used for scholarships and Cole Field:

o Josh and Jess Meyer $1000 – Carolina Meyer Scholarship

o Tom and Shirley Counts $1000 – Ed Counts Memorial Scholarship

o Botkins Swim Team $400 – Jeff Roberts Memorial Scholarship

o GA Wintzer $1000 – Cole Field

Adopted the resolution to approve a calamity day attendance plan.

Adopted the resolution to approve the use of Site Master Plan for future facilities.

Entered into a contract with the Auglaize County ESC for curriculum services.

Moved to hire Norman Leugers on a one-year limited probationary contract per agreement with the union.
