The Botkins Board of Education met on March 8th for the regular board meeting and took the following actions:
Approved the minutes of the February 8, 2023 regular board meeting
Approved the Treasurer’s report by fund, general fund activity, the Investment Report, and the 5-year review of General Fund Activity as presented
Approved Then and Now purchase orders as presented
Amended the Certificate and Appropriations as presented
Approved to non-renew of supplemental contracts as presented
Adopted the resolution for the use of the school grounds for the Botkins Carousel as presented
Approved a resolution to accept Tax Rates of the Budget Commission as presented
Accepted the following donations as presented:
$1500 was received from the Botkins Community Park Board to be used for the Athletics fund
$1000 was received from the 5 Star Basketball program to be used for the Boys Basketball program
$275 was received from Meyer's Tavern to be used for the Volleyball fund
$231 was received from Meyer's Tavern to be used for the Track fund
$1190 was received from the ABC's to be used for the Brukner Nature Center Programs on-site at Botkins School

Adopted the following Resolutions of Commendation as presented:
Bella Bucio –broke her 5th individual record in the 100 Butterfly with a time of 1:04.39, broke a school record in 100 Freestyle with a time of 58.25, broke a school record in 200 Individual Medley with a time of 2:26.63, broke a school record in 50 Freestyle with a time of 26.72, broke a school record in 500 Freestyle with a time of 5:41.88, broke a school record in 200 Freestyle with a time of 2:02.56, which qualified her for Districts-slated in the 12th seed, First Girl in Botkins Swim as Sectional Champion and qualified for the State Swim Meet, Fastest Freshman Division 2 in Ohio at 100 Backstroke, new school record in 100 Backstroke with a time of 59.23 at the State Swim Meet and placed 14th in State in the 100 Backstroke
Girls Relay Swim Team – Team of Bella Bucio, Avary Hanby, Andrea Jutte, and Aubree Topp set 3 new school relay records in 200 Freestyle with a time of 1:49.94, 200 Medley with a time of 2:05.40, and 400 Freestyle with a time of 4:20.38
Boys Relay Swim Team – Team of Carson Heuker, Keaton Schnippel, Gavyn Sanchez, Reis Aselage broke a 23 year old school record in 200 Freestyle Relay with a new record time of 1:38.10, and placed 14th in the District
Carter Pleiman – 1054 Career Points, one of Ten Botkins boys to reach 1000 Career Points, Division IV Southwest District First Team, 1st team All Southwest District Media Team, one of Nine SCAL players to play 100 Varsity games, awarded District 9 Coaches Association Player of the Year, Shelby County League Player of the Year, chosen to play for the Senior District 9 All-Star game on March 23rd at Miami East High School, and chosen to play in the Ohio North/South Game on April 28
High School Girls Basketball Team – Set a new school record by scoring Eleven 3-point baskets in a single game
8th Grade Boys Basketball Team – Back to Back SCAL Tournament Champions with overall record of 15-4
Ag Biotech: Brant Metz, John Smock, Luke Homan, Marcus Altherr placed 6th in the State in Ag Biotech
The Big E General Livestock Competition in Springfield, MA.: Fifth time to visit the Big E – The team placed 1st place overall; Individual results were John Smock placed 1st, Logan Aufderhaar placed 4th, Jacob Yenser placed 5th, and Adam Hall placed 8th
