The Botkins Board of Education met in regular session on August 12, 2015. The Board took the following actions:
Approved the minutes of the July 8, 2015 regular board meeting.
Approved the Treasurer’s report by fund, the Investment report, and cash balance report as presented.
Approved the following Then and Now purchase orders:
Kinstle Bus Repair & Parts - $20,312.35
Active Electric (dimming switches) – $11,723.21
Approved the change orders for concrete work due to filed dispute resolution for concrete repair in the amount of $65,884.50.
Heard from the following committees:
Building and Maintenance – Construction work is progressing. Concrete work is being fixed. Parking lots are being painted. Playground is painted. Landscape work still needs done.
Park Board – Cara’s Corner is complete. Soccer club will not be using the diamonds for soccer fields.
Approved the kindergarten routes as presented for the 2015-16 school year and authorizes theSuperintendent to make changes as needed.
Hired the following substitute teachers for the 2015-16 school year at a rate of $85 per day:
Deb Parker, Abby Borges, Donna Long, Casey Dietz, Rebecca Walters, Mariah Hoge, Betsy Spence, Mark Vaughn, Amber Turnmire, Kristen Hollis, Jeff Cummons, Lisa Albers, Kendra Berryman, Karen Christman, Jennifer Bumgarner, Chalene Hume, Erica Lyme, Janelle Lowry, Whitney Rogers, Stephanie Noble and Jennifer Duncum
Hired the following as substitute bus drivers as presented for the 2015-16 school year:
Chad Berning, Dan Knoop, Ken Lemmon, Mike Free and Chad Steinke
Hired Jody Marx as a substitute cafeteria workers for the 2015-16 school year per salary schedule.
Hired Lavelle Smith as the Driver’s Training Manager and Instructor per salary schedule.
Hired the following extracurricular positions per salary schedule for the 2015-16 school year:
Katelyn Bayhan After-school Tutor
Becky Walters After-school Tutor
Jennifer VanSkyock After-school Tutor
Luanne Powell Tutor during the day – 1 day a week
Janice Locker Tutor during the day – 2 days a week
Rob Berryman Gifted Aide
Set the 2015-16 tuition rate for Botkins Local School as determined by ODE at $5,321.47.
Approved the following overnight stays:
Cross Country trip to Eaton on September 18th and 19th.
FFA trip to National Convention in Louisville, KY October 28th thru October 31st .
FCCLA to attend the Fall Leadership Conference in Marengo, October 12th and 13th.
Entered a rental agreement with the Midwest Regional ESC at $5,000 per room for the 2015-16 school year.
Adopted the athletic admission prices for the 2015-16 school year as presented and moved to set the prices of the athletic season passes at $85 for adults and $45 for students.
Approved Katelyn Bayhan as a student teacher in Mrs. Mangers’ 1st grade classroom.
Hired Brenda Tennant as an aide for a student.
Accepted the FY16 Program services agreement between the Midwest Regional Education Service Center and Botkins Local School District as planned.
Approved to participate and authorize the Southwestern Ohio Educational Purchasing Council to advertise and receive bids on said Boards’ behalf as per the specifications submitted for the cooperative purchase of 1 school bus.
Authorized the athletic trainer, after consulting with MD, to grant clearance to athletes to return to participation following a concussion.
Hired Cathy Bajwa as a volunteer nurse and Scott Schneider as a volunteer coach.
Hired Donna Bogart as a substitute cook, janitor and aide.
Hired Drew Kreitzer as maintenance/custodian on a 1 year contract.
Entered executive session to discuss hiring of personnel.
Hired Brad Bergman as the athletic director on a one year contract.
Hired the following extracurricular positions per salary schedule for the 2015-16 school year:
Jenni Doseck Assistant Varsity Volleyball Coach
Brad Bergman JV Basketball Coach
Andy Schneider Assistant Varsity Girls Soccer Coach
Hired Billie Homan as a counselor/special needs aide on a one year contract as presented.
