The Botkins Board of Education met in regular session on August 10, 2016. The Board took the following actions:

Spencer Heuker spoke on his eagle scout project inquiry.

Eric Guckes gave an update on fall club soccer. JH soccer was also discussed.

Casey Dietz requested for support of the Louise Sheets grant for Cole Field. She also updated on the progress of Cole Field.

Approved the minutes of July 13, 2016, Board of Education regular meeting.

Approved the Treasurer’s report by fund, the Investment report, and cash balance report as presented.

Approved the following Then and Now purchase order: Donald Summer for the purpose of Tile/Drainage repair and work in the amount of $5102.50

Approved change order for Asphalt walkway for ADA compliance at the Track/Soccer complex.

Approved the kindergarten routes as presented for the 2016-17 school year and authorized the Superintendent to make changes as needed.

Hired the following substitutes for the 2016-17 school year:

o Joseph Sponseller Teacher

o Bob Reed Teacher

o Janelle Lowry Teacher

o Alexandra Fisher Teacher and Aide

Hired the following extracurricular positions:

o Chad Berning 5th Quarter Grant

o Alan Egbert Track and Field Events (Pole Vault)

o Ryan Piche 7th Grade Girls Basketball

o Rob Berryman RoBotkins at $19.50/hr.

o Olivia Schneider Musical Assistant Director

Moved to set the 2016-2017 tuition rate for Botkins Local School as determined by ODE.

Approved the following overnight trips:

o FFA Livestock Judging Team to participate in the Keystone International-October 7th – 9th, 2016

o FFA to attend the National Convention in Louisville, KY-October 19th-22nd, 2016

Adopted the admission prices for the 2016-17 school year as the same as last year per the SCL. Season passes will also remain the same, $45 for a student pass and $85 for an adult pass.

Authorized the athletic trainer, after consulting with MD, to grant clearance to athletes to return to participation following a concussion.

Accepted the following donations:

o $28,855.26 from the Botkins Athletic Boosters through the Community Foundation of Shelby County for the track and soccer complex equipment.

o $200 to the Memorial Fund in memory of Joe Hageman.

Approved the Midwest Regional Educational Service Center Agreement for the new Gifted Intervention Specialist, Bobbie Young.
