The Botkins Board of Education met in regular session on February 10, 2016. The Board took the following actions:

Eric Guckes came to represent the Soccer Club to request the use of Cole Field for soccer for Spring2016 (March-June) practice field only. In the Fall of 2016 they will need 2 fields. They will also like to use Cole Field and east of the school. They would like 4 fields. They will visit the grass condition in the fall.

Casey Dietz asked for permission to use Cole Field for summer baseball.

Jody Underwood was present to address concerns with the basketball programs for grades 5-8 and how students are coached and the goals of the programs. She would like to see a more positive approach for all.

Approved the minutes of the reorganizational meeting and regular board meeting on January 13, 2016 with an amendment to the minutes.

The audit is still not finished/GAAP Analysis complete.

Approved the Treasurer’s report by fund, the Investment report, and cash balance report as presented. Transportation funding was an increase.

Approved the following overnight trips:

o 6th grade trip to Henry Ford Museum and Greenfield Village on May 12th & 13th, 2016.

o FFA State Convention in Columbus – May 5th & 6th, 2016.

o FFA Washington Leadership Conference – June 21st – June 26th, 2016.

o FCCLA State Convention in Columbus – April 28th & 29th, 2016.

Approved the book fees for the 2016-17 school year as presented with no increase.

Hired the following personnel:

o Jodi Grillot Tutor

o Jennifer Luebke Tutor

o Kelli Lopuch Substitute Teacher

Amended the 2016-17 school calendar as presented.

Approved Logan Pitts as a student observer in Mrs. Meyer’s classroom for the remainder of the 2015-16 school year.

Changed the regular March board meeting to Monday, March 14, 2016 due to a conflict.

Set a special board meeting on Monday, March 14, 2016 at 6:00 PM for the purpose of meeting with the Village Council in the School Media Center.

Accepted the following donations:

o Athletic Boosters $2400 Jeff Roberts Memorial Scholarship

o Community Club $1000 Community Club Scholarship

o Anonymous Donors $508 Cara Meyer Scholarship

Entered executive session to discuss hiring of personnel.

Approved the purchase of a 30 passenger bus per EPC bid contract.

Approved installing parking lot lights at the Athletic Complex by Greve Electric for $24,700.

Approved the purchase of a truck through Buckeye Ford on the State Contract price.

New graduation requirements were reviewed which will begin for the class of 2018. An update was given on the status of our current sophomores.

Discussed the joint meeting with the Village Council to be held on March 14th.

Discussed the following building updates:

o Fanning & Howey is finalizing punches on the renovations.

o Discussion of lighting for parking lot.

o Discussion of a building.

o There have been boiler issues which we continue to address at the Athletic Complex.

o The bleacher rails have finally arrived and have been installed.

Reviewed the meeting that was held with the Athletic Boosters to discuss the possibility of removing the bleachers from the fairgrounds. The board decided to pursue new bleachers.

We have Adobe licenses per a grant that was received for the Business Department.
