The Botkins Board of Education met in regular session on July 7th, 2014. The Board took the following actions:
v Scott Bayless addressed the board concerning the following items: new intervention specialist position, retired employees, class sizes and board minutes.
v New staff members Jason Christman-Intervention Coordinator and Jeff Dorsey-Industrial Tech. teacher were welcomed by the board and introduced.
v Casey Dietz discussed Cole Field and would like the board to consider approving a Louise Sheets Grant and other fundraisers. She will have more info at the August BOE meeting.
v Approved the minutes of the June 16, 2014 regular Board of Education meeting.
v Approved the Treasurer’s report by fund, the Investment report, and cash balance report as presented.
v Committee reports were given. The Park board discussed park expenditures.
v Approved a $30,000 transfer from the General Fund to the Athletic Fund.
v Hired the following substitute teachers for the 2014-15 school year at the rate of $85 per day: Sue Carter, Jennifer VanSkyock, Shirley Umstead, Rebecca Walters, Lisa Albers, Jennifer Paulus, Kim Marchal, Kristen Higgins, Karen Christman, Janelle Lowry, Mary Dildine, Stephanie Noble, Erica Lyme.
v Approved the bus routes and authorized the superintendent to make changes as needed.
v Hired the extracurricular positions as presented for the 2014-15 school year per salary schedule:
Varsity Volleyball Assistant Coach Logan Pitts
JV Volleyball Coach Hailey Furrow
Varsity Boys Basketball Assistant Coach Ryan Gutman
v Accepted the resignation of Richard Brandeberry effective June 27, 2014.
v Moved that transportation to Sidney Christian Academy and Lima Temple Christian is impractical and the Board will pay parents in lieu of providing such services.
v Accepted a $500 donation from the Uppenkamp family and a $500 anonymous donation for the use in the courtyard area of the new school.
v Hired Jeff Dorsey on a 1 year limited contract as Industrial Tech./Driver’s Ed. per salary schedule.
v Approved a 3 year contract with the Botkins Federation of Teachers.
v Approved a 2 year contract for the Superintendent.
v Approved contracts with classified personnel for the 2014-15 school year.
v Approved participating in the Blizzard Bag program for the 2014-15 school year.
v Next regular Board of Education meeting will be held August 13, 2014.
