The Botkins Board of Education met in regular session on March 11, 2015. The Board took the following actions:

v Mr. David Price spoke to the board about being paid for concrete work completed.

v Met the new FCS teacher, Allison Bruns

v Approved the minutes of the February 11, 2015, Board of Education regular meeting and February 17, 2015 special board meeting.

v Approved the Treasurer’s report by fund, the Investment report and cash balance report as presented.

v Amended the Certificate of Estimated Resources, made supplemental Appropriations and modified appropriations as presented.

v Heard Committee reports:

o Building and Maintenance discussed adding a double set of doors as wind break in the bus hallway.

o Park Board reported that the Village and School met to discuss spring sports.

o Technology is up and running at about 90%.

v Renewed all supplemental contracts effective at the end of the 2015-16 school year.

v Adopted resolutions of commendations for:

Power of the Pen District results and Regional Qualifiers:

¨ At the District Power of the Pen competition that was held at Botkins, Emma McName placed 5th out of 72 seventh grade writers and Sarah Klaus placed 12thout of 70 eighth grade writers. The entire 8th grade team consisting of Michelle Altstaetter, Bella Ewry, Macy Kies, Sarah Klaus, Grace McCafferty and Lindsey Okuley placed 2nd overall.

¨ The following junior high Power of the Pen members qualified for Regional Tournament: 8th graders Michelle Altstaetter, Bella Ewry, Macy Kies, Sarah Klaus, Grace McCafferty, Lindsey Okuley and 7th graders Dylan Charles, Emma McName, and Sarah VanBrocklin.

FCCLA State Qualifiers:

¨ Chapter in Review members Brooke Bornhorst, Mackenzie Brown, and Kaitlyn Schmerge earned a Gold rating for their scrapbook qualifying them for State competition.

FFA Judging Teams:

¨ The General Livestock Judging team placed 1st out of 31 teams. Scoring for the team was Micah Smock, who placed 1st out of 289 individuals, Xavier Pax who placed 14th, Jonathon Yenser placed 21st and Ben Aufderhaar placed 34th.

¨ The Dairy Judging team placed 2nd out of 14 teams. Scoring for the team was Lucas Buehler who placed 2nd out of 85 individuals, Keaton Topp placed 8th, Phil Greve placed 10th and Kyle Maurer placed 12th overall.

¨ The Horse Judging team placed 2nd out of 24 teams. Scoring for the team was Madeline Okuley who placed 4th out of 124 individuals, Paige Oakley who placed 5th, Maddi Steinke placed 17th and Payton Amstutz placed 45th.

¨ The Agronomy team placed 5th out of 11 teams. Scoring for the team was Kyle Moellenkamp, Trevor Ott, Kenneth Kramer and Trevor Frey.

v Approved a resolution accepting the amounts and rates as determined by the budget commission and authorizing the necessary tax levies and certifying to the county auditor.

v Approved the change order for additional parking in the amount of $104,310.81.

v Hired Paul Dingledine for girls soccer coach for the 2015-16 school year.

v Hired Allison Bruns as the Family and Consumer Science teacher for the 2015-16 school year for a 1 year probationary contract with 15 extended days.

Accepted a $100 donation from the Anna Rescue for lockers.
