July 2015

The Botkins Board of Education met in regular session on July 8, 2015. The Board took the following actions:

*      Kent Buehler attended the board meeting representing the Community Club and the use of school facilities for the 2016 Carousel. It was discussed to use the new parking lot. No objections were made.

*      Approved the minutes of the June 10, 2015, Board of Education regular meeting.

*      Approved the LFI agreement for construction management services for a total of $62,515.01 for the Demo/Reno project.

*      Approved the 8th grade trip to Washington, D.C. for October 20th – 25th, 2015 and the Band/Choir Florida trip to March 6th – 12th, 2016.

*      Approved the bus routes for the 2015-16 school year.

*      Moved to hire Becky Walters as the 7th grade volleyball coach.

*      Hired John-Michael Haught as a temporary tech aide at $8.35 as needed and Tony Rogers as an Aide and Bus Driver for 1 year.

*      Accepted the resignation of Art Zimpfer, janitor, as of August 31, 2015 and Kelly Haught, cafeteria worker, as of July 2nd, 2015.

*      Moved that transportation to Sidney Christian Academy is impractical and the Board will pay Mrs. Joe Morris and Mr. and Mrs. Paul Swartz in lieu of providing such services.

*      Accepted the following donations:

Care-A-Lot Preschool - $200 – for the use of the facility for preschool graduation.

Donation Drive - $122 – Matt Frilling

Target - $100 – High School Principal Fund

Rhonda Freisthler - $250 – Jacob Freisthler Scholarship

Susan Schneider - $300 – Student Memorial (Gary Schneider)

Jeff Roberts Memorial Scholarship Fund - $458.50

*      Moved to enter executive session to discuss personnel.

*      The board issued the following contracts:

Connie Greve – 1-year contract – Part-time janitor

Holly Russell – 1-year contract – Office Aide

Jeanie Bergman – 1 year contract – Cafeteria (15 hours per week)

Dennis McPheron – 2 year contract – Janitor

Jennifer VanSkyock – 2 year contract – Aide

Jill Anthony – continuing contract – Part-time Janitor

Julie Schneider – continuing contract – Secretary

Heather Thaman – continuing contract – Part-time Aide

Andrea Koenig – 1 year contract to teach 2 classes and continuing contract for librarian.

Krista Meyer – 5 extended day

*      Agreed to table any action on the JH soccer for the 2015-16 school year.

*      Demo/Reno project is on schedule. The outside work is slightly behind due to all the rain.

*      Extra parking lot work is beginning.
