April 2022

The Botkins Board of Education met on April 13th for the regular board meeting and took the following actions:

  • Approved the minutes of the March 9, 2022 regular board meeting

  • Approved the Treasurer’s report by fund, general fund activity, the Investment Report, and the 5-year review of General Fund Activity as presented

  • Approved a transfer from the general fund to the textbook set aside fund for future class supplies and textbook expenses as presented

  • Approved the Then and Now Purchase Order as presented

  • Amended the Certificate of Estimated Resources and make supplemental appropriations and modify appropriations as presented.

  • Approved the list of graduates of the Class of 2022 as presented, pending completion of all necessary course work

  • Adopted the 7-12 handbook for the 2022-23 school year as presented

  • Adopted the K-6 handbook for the 2022-23 school year as presented

  • Adopted the Volunteer handbook for the 2022-23 school year

  • Adopted the Classified handbook for the 2022-23 school year as presented

  • Adopted the Faculty handbook for the 2022-23 school year

  • Approved to participate in Ohio SchoolComp for the 2022 Workers' Compensation Group Rating Program as presented

  • Accepted the following donations: a donation of $330 was received from Meyer's Tavern to be used for the Varsity Girls Soccer Team, $291 was received from Meyer's Tavern to be used for the Girls Basketball Team, $1000 was received from First National Bank to be used for scholarships, and $1000 was received from Greve Farms to be used for the Julius and Dorothy Greve Scholarships

  • Accepted the resignation of Jane Hough from her position as Art Teacher effective at the end of the 2021-22 school year as presented

  • Adopted the changes to the Board Policy and Administrative Guideline as presented

  • Adopted Resolutions of Commendation as presented:

Ross Dietz – Set a new school standard for the First Golfer to win the District Meet.

John Smock – Set a new school record in Boys Soccer with 21 Assists in a season .

Aubree Topp – Set new school records in Girls Swim 50 Free with a time of 27.51, 100 Free with a time of 1:02.47, and 200 Free with a time of 2:25.06.

Carmen Heuker – Set new school records in Girls Basketball with 3rd of All-Time Scoring List with 1,177 points, and 5th of All-Time Scoring List in a Single Season with 374 points.

Jameson Meyer – Set a new school record, as well as a new Shelby County record of most 3 Point Field Goals in a Single Season with 80.

Jacob Pleiman – Set a new school record with 3rd of All-Time Scoring List with 1,402 points, and 7th of All-Time Scoring List in a Single Season with 512 points.

Boys Cross Country – Set a first-time record when the Boys Cross Country Team Qualified for the State Meet for the third year in a row

Boys Soccer – Won the WOSL league championship for the seventh straight year.

Girls Soccer – Had the most successful team in school history with a 12-5-1 record.

Girls Basketball – Set a Best Defensive Team Record of 35.3 points per game.

Boys Basketball – SCAL Champions 12-0 first time winning outright since 1979, District Champions (2 years consecutively), Regional Runner Up.

Boys Basketball – Set a new school record with the Best Defensive Team in school history with 38.28 points per game.

Boys Golf – Set new school records with a record of winning the district meet for the first time in school history, a record 151 in 9 Holes, 292 in 18 Holes, and Wins of 101-12. The Boys Golf team won the SCAL for the first time since 1993 and finished undefeated in the league, won the sectional tournament for the first time since 2014, and placed 4th at the State Golf Tournament.

7th Grade Volleyball Team – Won the league and the league tournament for the first time since 2003.

7th Grade Girls Basketball Team – Won the regular season title

7th Grade Boys Basketball Team – Won the SCAL Tournament and won the regular season title 14-2. 7th Graders became the first class to win the SCAL in both boys and girls’ basketball since the graduating class of 2000.

SSA Ensemble – Qualified for State Competition

FCCLA – Mark Carducci & Ben Ewry received gold at the Region 4 Career Development Event

  • Approved the FFA overnight trip to the Ohio FFA Camp Muskingum and FCCLA overnight trip to the FCCLA State Competition in Columbus as presented

  • Approved to purchase property at the Botkins Community Park from the Botkins Community Improvement Corporation as presented

  • Denied the request for 100% abatement on a new construction project requested by First National Bank in New Bremen INC and adopt the resolution as presented

  • Entered Executive Session at 8:32 PM

  • Left Executive Session at 9:42 PM
