The Botkins Board of Education met on August 10th for the regular board meeting and took the following actions:

  • Approved the minutes of the July 13, 2022 regular board meeting

  • Approved the Treasurer’s report by fund, general fund activity, the Investment Report, and the 5-year review of General Fund Activity as presented

  • Approved the Then and Now purchase order as presented

  • Approved to hire the following personnel as presented:

    • Chad Berning - 5th Quarter Grant

    • Logan Heitkamp - Varsity Assistant Baseball Coach

    • Caleb Koch - Volunteer Assistant Baseball Coach

    • Jay Smith - Volunteer Assistant Baseball Coach

    • Sarah Bergman - JV Volleyball Coach

  • Approved to adopt the athletic admission prices for the 2022-23 school year as presented and moves to set season passes at $95 for adults and $55 for students

  • Approved to hire the following substitutes for the 2022-23 school year as presented:

    • Jennifer Van Skyock - Teacher

    • Beth Harp - Teacher

    • Alyshia Hensley - Teacher

    • Evan Poeppelman - Custodial

    • Joe Shuga - Teacher

  • Approval of Volunteer as presented:

    • Judy Thaman

  • Approved the bus routes and authorized the Superintendent to make changes as deemed necessary

  • Approved to set the 2022-23 tuition rate at $5969.71 for the Botkins Local School as determined by ODE

  • Approved to authorize the athletic trainer, after consulting with MD, to grant clearance to athletes to return to participation following a concussion

  • Approved to enter into an agreement with the Shelby County Sheriff's Office for School Resource Officer services for the 2022-23 school year at a cost yet to be determined

  • Accepted a donation of $311 from Meyer's Tavern to be used for the Volleyball fund as presented

  • Approved for Chad Berning and students to attend the FFA National Convention in Indianapolis, Indiana for leadership sessions, tours, and degree ceremony

  • Approved to hire Billy Shoffner - Custodian 1 year contract as presented

  • Approved to hire Cindy Cox - Cafeteria Worker 1 year contract as presented

  • Approved the Midwest Regional Educational Service Center Agreement for Instructional Aide - Aleshya Hutchinson as presented

  • Approved the hiring of M/T Studios for design services of restrooms at the the Track & Soccer Complex and other potential future projects as presented

  • Accepted the resignation of Beth White as 4 hour kitchen worker as of 8-18-2022
