The Botkins Board of Education met on December 13th for the regular board meeting and took the following actions:

• Approved the minutes of the November 8, 2023 regular board meeting

• Approved the Treasurer’s report by fund, general fund activity, the Investment Report, and the 5-year review of General Fund Activity as presented

• Approved the Then and Now purchase order as presented

• Approved to set the reorganizational meeting and the regular board meeting for January 10, 2024, at 6:45 P.M. and 7:00 P.M. respectively

• Approved to accept the following donations as presented:

  • $920.00 from an anonymous donor to be used for the Boys' Basketball Fund

  • $1000.00 from Meyer's Tavern to be used for the Boy's Basketball Fund

  • $919.00 from Meyer's Tavern to be used for the Golf Fund

  • $286.00 from Meyer's Tavern to be used for the Volleyball Fund

  • $2200.00 from the Botkins Athletic Boosters to be used for the Cheer Fund

• Approved to adopt the following Resolutions of Commendation as presented:

J.J. Meyer – 1st athlete in Botkins school history to go to State Competition for 2 sports in the same season (Golf & Cross Country), set a new school record for 9 holes with a 32, was awarded 2nd Team in the Southwest District Ohio Golf Coach’s Association Tournament Team Honor, 1st Team SCAL All-League Golf Honor, Academic All-Ohio, qualified for State, finished State with a 77-86=163, 24th Best D3 Golfer in Ohio, and 10th Best Senior in Ohio

Ross Dietz –set a new school record for 18 holes with a 68, awarded 1st Team All-Southwest District Ohio Golf Coach’s Association Tournament Team, SCAL Player of the Year, Sectional Champion -3 (69).

Golf Team – Team members consisting of J.J. Meyer, Ross Dietz, Carson Heuker, Elijah Schuller, Quinn Koenig, and Noah Topp placed Runner-Up SCAL 10-2.

Golf Team – Team members consisting of J.J. Meyer, Ross Dietz, Carson Heuker, Elijah Schuller, and Quinn Koenig qualified for Sectionals where they placed 3rd with a 331, qualified for Districts where they placed 6th with a 345

FFA – The General Livestock Team placed 8th in the American Royal Livestock Judging Contest, placed 3rd overall in cattle, placed 8th overall in sheep/goats, placed 8th overall in oral reasons.  Individual results: Brant Metz placed 15th, Jacob Yenser placed 20th (2nd highest individual in cattle, 8th overall in oral reasons), Logan Aufderhaar placed 34th, Tyler Egbert placed 35th

Janel Platfoot – Set 5 new school records in Volleyball: Sets in a Career, All-Time Career Assists, Aces in a Season, Service Points in a Season, Service Points in a Career; District 9 Senior All-Star Match, 2nd Team All-District, SCAL 2nd Team.

Alaina Mann – 1st Team All-District, 1st Team All-Region, qualified for Regional and placed 3rd, qualified for State, finished 28th at State, 2X All-Ohioan

Brittany Arnold – 3rd Fastest Runner in School History, qualified for Regionals and finished 4th, 4X State Qualifier, finished 13th at State, SCAL Runner of the Year, 1st Team All-District, 1st Team All-Region, 4X All-Ohioan

Grace Gutman – 15th Fastest Runner in School History, 2nd Team All-District

Parker Schnippel – 1st Team All-District, 4X State Qualifier, Academic All-Ohio

Carson Brown – 1st Team All-District, 2nd Team All-Region, 7th Fastest Runner in School History, State Qualifier where he finished 29th at State, All-Ohioan, Academic All-Ohio

High School Girls Cross Country – SCAL Runner-up, Div. III District Champions, Regional Qualifier-4th Place

High School Boys Cross Country – Div. III District Runner-up, Regional Qualifier 4th place, State Qualifier, SCAL Back to Back Champions, 4th Top Ten Finish in the last 5 years in SCAL

High School Volleyball Team – Sectional Champions, 1st tournament win since 2008, and first sectional championship since 2007

Camdyn Paul – Set 3 new school records in Soccer: most career goals with 109 total goals, 42 career assists, 37 goals scored in a single season, was awarded 1st Team WOSL 4 years consecutive, WOSL Offensive Player of the Year 2 years consecutive, 1st Team MVSSCA All-Sectional Honor, MVSSCA All-District Honor, 2nd Team OSSCA All-State Honor.

Coach Padraig Murphy – awarded WOSL Coach of the Year

Coach Kevin Lynch – 8X WOSL Champions, WOSL Coach of the Year for the 5th time

Rylyn Paul – WOSL 1st Team 3 years consecutive, WOSL Offensive Player of the Year, 1st Team MVSSCA-West, 2nd Team MVSSCA All-District, 2nd Team OSSCA All-State Honors

High School Boys Soccer Team – WOSL Champions 8X, Sectional Champions, Elida Shoot Out Classic Champions

• Approved Southwest EPC for natural gas fuel purchases as presented

• Accepted the resignation of Alex McCullough as Maintenance/Custodian as of 12/1/2023

• Approved to hire the following personnel:

  • Sarah Bergman - Athletic Ticket Taker

  • Susan Leugers - Athletic Ticket Taker

• Approved to hire the following substitute teachers for the 2023-24 school year:
