The Botkins Board of Education met on May 11th for the regular board meeting and took the following actions:

  • Approved the minutes of the April 13, 2022 regular board meeting

  • Approved the Treasurer’s report by fund, general fund activity, the Investment Report, and the 5-year review of General Fund Activity as presented

  • Amended the 5-year Forecast as presented

  • Approved the Modified Cash Basis Contract as presented

  • Amended Certificate of Estimated Resources and make supplemental Appropriations and modify appropriations as presented

  • Approved a transfer from the general fund to the severance fund as presented

  • Approved to hire certified personnel - Christina Fisher as Art Educator

  • Approved to hire list of personnel for the 2022-23 school year for supplemental contracts at salaries to be determined

  • Approved to renew contracts for the following certified staff members as presented:

    • Teachers eligible for a 1-year contract - Brittany Butler, Gavrielle Mann, and Logan Watercutter

    • Teacher eligible for a 3-year contract - Jena Holtkamp

    • Teacher eligible for a continuing contract - Renee Wildermuth

  • Approved to renew contracts for the following classified staff members as presented:

    • Kellie Baughman, Jane Fullenkamp, Mike Hoy, Julie Meyer, Sarah Webb, and Norm Yager

  • Approved to renew contract for the following administrative staff member as presented:

    • Chris Abke

  • Approved to hire the following personnel as summer tutors and coordinator per salary schedule:

    • Summer School Coordinator/Tutor: Becky Walters

    • Summer School Tutor: Rob Berryman, Samantha McPheron, Olivia Jones, Raquel Brown, Taylor Cotrell, Sara Bergman, Erin Maier, and Alexandra Fisher

    • Summer School Aide: Ann Gerstner

  • Approved to hire the following students as seasonal summer help:

    • Jack Dietz, Evan Grieves, Evan Poeppelman, Gavin Schmerge, and Malanie Maurer

  • Approved to apply for a CTE waiver as presented

  • Accepted the following donations:

    • An anonymous donation of $4500 was received for: $1500-FFA fund, $1500-Band/Musical fund, and $1500-baseball fund

    • A donation of $2000 was received from Josh Meyer to be used for the Cara Meyer Scholarship fund

    • A donation of $1000 was received from First National Bank to be used for the First National Bank Scholarship fund

    • A donation of $300 was received from Susan Schneider to be used for the Gary Schneider Scholarship fund

  • Approved to hire the following substitute teacher for the 2021-22 school year: Konnor Burmeister

  • Approved to extend Heather Wing's maternity leave through the remainder of the school year

  • Accepted Norman Leugers resignation as Industrial Tech Teacher due to retirement effective June 1, 2022

  • Approved the following overnight trips as presented:

    • Boys Basketball - June 6-7, Findlay Team Camp

    • Girls Basketball - June 14-15, Findlay Team Camp

    • Boys Soccer - July 11-13, ODU Team Camp

    • Girls Soccer - June 11-13 or last week of June, Trine University Team Camp
